Hi, I am Sherry Daniel. I went to Roberta Elementary School through 6th grade and then to Blue Elementary School for grades 7 through 12. I then went SOSU and graduated with a Masters degree in reading. I started teaching third grade in the fall of 1978 at Blue School. I then moved to first grade for 16 years. After first grade I was moved to Reading Lab for 5 years then back to third grade for 3 years. After that. . . well, let’s just say, I have been moved around a lot. Several years ago I started coaching the 5th and 6th grade academic teams along with my regular classroom assignments. I am now back in the Reading intervention lab.
People always ask me, "When are you going to retire?" I always reply, "When it stops being FUN." I truly enjoy being a school teacher.
I lost my wonderful husband, Dannie, to cancer March 6, 2024. We were childhood sweethearts. We celebrated our 51st anniversary in January. I miss hm bunches. We have 2 fantastic children, Samantha and Andrew. Samantha has given us a fantastic Son-in-love, John , and Andrew has given is a wonderful Daughter-in-love, Lydia. They have blessed us with adorable grandchildren, Skylar, Joslyn, Tristan, Kaycee, Ashlee, Zachary, Jacob, and Corbyn. Skylar as also blessed us with 4 great grand children, Bracelyn, Kyson, Kountry, and Shalie. Ashlee has blessed us with a Great grandson, Daniel.
My hobbies are spoiling my grandchildren. I love to watch my grandchildren play baseball and basketball. I can even enjoy watching them play football, although it is definitely not my favorite sport. Oh, there is always fishing. I have a great fishing pond right behind my house. I like to sing and play my guitar. I collect tea pots and cups and marbles. My favorite major league baseball team is the Texas Rangers. Win or lose, they are my favorite. I also enjoy the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Dallas Cowboys sometimes. I like to read, draw, oil paint, write, and Crafts in Vacation Bible School. I don't have much time for drawing and writing, but as my family says, "I always seem to find time to spoil those grandchildren."
